You are bidding on an eight x 10 black and white photographs of HMCS Rainbow ( ex HMS Rainbow ), the 1st ship of the Canadian Naval Service, Royal Canadian Navy which served from 1910 to 1920. The Rainbow began her life in 1889, at the Palmer Shipyards. She was launched on March 25, 1891 and commissioned into the Royal Navy in 1893. She served on the China Station from 1895 to 1898, in Malta from 1898 to 1899 and was decommissioned in 1909. She was transferred to the infant Canadian service and commissioned on August 4, 1910.She was sold for scrap in 1920.Photograph 1 is undated, and shows an overall waterline starboard bow view.Item 2 is an eight x 10 colour statistics sheet showing 1 of the Rainbow’s unofficial ships badge general characteristics, callsigns ( RN & RCN ), trivia and the ensigns she proudly flew.Item 3 is an eight x 10 colour with a short history of the Rainbow, complete with a list of her Commanding Officers, and an undated crew photograph.
