She was launched on October 3, 1936, by Lulie Swanson, wife of the then Secretary of the Navy, Claude A Swanson. She was commissioned on May 12, 1938 as the United States Navy sixth aircraft carrier.She was the most decorated United States Ship during World War II for participating in the Battles of Midway, Eastern Solomons, Santa Cruz Islands, Guadalcanal Campaign, Phillipine Sea, Leyte Gulf and the famous Doolittle Raid.Photograph 1 is circa 1939 and shows overall waterline starboard bow view.Item two is an eight x 10 colour statistics sheet showing the ships crest, general 1944 characteristics , her Airgroup twenty air group, callsign, trivia and the ensign she proudly flew.Item 3 is an eight x 10 colour with a short history of the Enterprise, complete with a list of her Commanding Officers.
